A manufacturing company in Gelang Patah, Malaysia, is looking for a Fabrication Design Specialist to contribute to upcoming projects by designing and testing innovative products. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in fabrication design, proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, and familiarity with CNC machine operations. This role involves the creation of detailed fabrication drawings, optimization of designs for manufacturability, and collaboration with production teams to develop high-quality, cost-effective products.
STINIS MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. seeks a FABRICATION DESIGN SPECIALIST to help design, test, and support upcoming projects by creating dependable, hardworking products that benefit our company’s development.
Create detailed fabrication drawings for sheet metal, structural, and machined components.
Design jigs and fixtures for production and assembly processes.
Convert 2D drawings into 3D CAD models for manufacturing.
Optimize part geometry for ease of fabrication and cost reduction.
Design custom-built structures such as frames, cabinets, and panels.
Develop design concepts for high-precision fabricated parts.
Generate CAM files for laser cutting, bending, CNC punching, or waterjet operations.
Interface CAD drawings with CNC fabrication equipment.
Simulate cutting and machining paths for production validation.
Select appropriate materials based on mechanical and thermal properties.
Recommend material substitutions for cost efficiency or availability.
Design structural reinforcements based on load simulations.
Collaborate with CNC programmers to ensure manufacturability.
Optimize component weight-to-strength ratio.
Consider heat distortion and warpage in design.
Recommend finishes (e.g., anodizing, powder coating) in design specifications.
Create CAD models compatible with nesting software.
Validate welding joint strength and configuration.
Design corrosion-resistant components for harsh environments.
Apply standard welding symbols and specifications in drawings.
Design parts optimized for CNC milling and turning processes.
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis in CAD assemblies.
Customize CAD libraries with standard fabrication components.
Simulate motion and interference in CAD assemblies.
Create fixture CAM programs for consistent production.
Modify toolpaths based on machine feedback and part distortion.
Customize post-processors for specific CNC machines.
Ensure CNC-compatible geometry in designs.
Interpret CMM reports to validate part conformity.
Align CNC operations with fixture design constraints.
Analyze machining-induced stress using CAM simulation.
Validate heat effects on weldments using thermal simulation.
Validate CNC machine capabilities against part tolerance requirements.
The required skills for the position FABRICATION DESIGN SPECIALIST are as follows:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in fabrication design
Proficient in 2D/3D CAD software
Experience in CAM software
