Job description

Executive, Civil & Structure Engineering (Slope & Drainage)

Effective management, maintenance, and assessment of highway slope and drainage systems. The role involves overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of slope protection structures, drainage networks, and flood management systems to ensure the safe and smooth operation of highway infrastructure

Slope Maintenance and Management:

Conduct regular inspections and assessments of highway slopes to ensure stability and safety.

Monitor the condition of slope protection measures, including retaining walls, embankments, and drainage channels.

Develop and implement maintenance plans for slopes and embankments to mitigate erosion or landslide risks.

Coordinate slope stabilization works as required, including the design and implementation of slope protection methods.

Drainage System Oversight:

Oversee the maintenance of drainage systems along highways to ensure proper water flow and prevent flooding.

Conduct regular inspections and assessments for the condition of culverts, stormwater drains, drainage channels, and other water management structures.

Ensure that drainage systems are functioning efficiently to minimize the risk of water-related damage to roads and surrounding infrastructure.

Identify and resolve issues such as damaged, or poor drainage system and capacity.

Technical Support and Documentation:

Provide technical support to operation team in all subsidiaries of PROLINTAS highways for the civil and structure unit in designing, upgrading, or modifying slope and drainage systems.

Prepare all necessary management papers required for appointment of Contractor or Consultants.

Preparation of reports, technical specifications, and tender documents for slope stabilization and drainage works.

Keep accurate records of inspections, and repairs for future reference.

Ensure compliance with LLM and all relevant standards for civil and structural works.

Review and monitor work programme, method of repair (based on specification and guidelines), propose work plan as well as recommend consultancy services for major maintenance to obtain Management’s approval.

Evaluate and review Contractor performance for any civil maintenance works so as to ensure works are carried out smoothly with minimal disruptions to operations.

Responsible to monitor the compliance, analyse the implementation of works system in accordance to ISO 9001, Malaysia Highway Authority or any other required reports

Coordination and Communication:

Liaise with external contractors, consultants, and government agencies regarding slope and drainage curative maintenance projects.

Coordinate with other subsidiaries within PROLINTAS to ensure smooth execution of projects.

Attend project meetings and provide updates on progress, challenges, and required actions.

Annual Work Programme and Budget Plan:

Review and monitor the list of defects/complaints from all stakeholders, analyse the condition and ensure the defects/complaints is managed in a timely manner whilst meeting the internal and external customers’ satisfaction.

Plan the Civil Maintenance Work Programme and Budget for the curative maintenance works.

Monitor the budget utilization to ensure there is no cost overrun and it is within the approved budget.

Position Requirements & Specifications:

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

At least 2-3 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on slope management, drainage systems, or highway maintenance.

Experience in conducting site inspections and managing maintenance projects related to civil infrastructure.

Familiarity with construction practices and standards related to slopes, drainage, and highway infrastructure

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, AutoCAD.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with multiple stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively in both independent and team settings.

Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues.
