A leading manufacturing firm in Kulim, Malaysia, is seeking an experienced professional to manage their ESD control program. The role involves designing and implementing policies, conducting training for staff, and ensuring compliance with ESD standards. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 4 years of practical experience. Relevant certifications from the ESD Association are preferred. The position offers a dynamic work environment and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive ESD control program aligned with industry standards (e.g., ANSI/ESD S20.20, IEC 61340-5-1).
Establish and define Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPAs) within the plant, including workstations, production lines, and storage areas.
Develop and document ESD control procedures, work instructions, and guidelines for all relevant processes, including handling, assembly, testing, packaging, and shipping of ESD-sensitive (ESDS) items.
Ensure proper grounding and bonding systems are in place and maintained for equipment, workstations, and personnel.
Maintain the ANSI ESD S20.20 Certification.
Develop and deliver comprehensive ESD awareness and technical training programs for all employees who handle or work near ESDS items.
Foster a culture of ESD awareness and accountability among plant personnel.
Identify non-conformities, root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Prepare audit reports and present findings to management.
Stay updated on the latest ESD standards, technologies, and best practices.
Provide ESD 20.20 criteria guidance following industry and customer specifications.
Support external audits related to ESD control programs (e.g., ISO 9000 audits).
Evaluate, select, and procure appropriate ESD-safe materials, tools, and equipment (e.g., ESD mats, wrist straps, footwear, garments, ionizers, packaging, cleaning tools).
Work with suppliers to ensure purchased materials and equipment meet ESD requirements.
Investigate and resolve ESD-related issues, product failures, and customer complaints.
Conduct technical analysis and testing of ESD control measures (e.g., surface resistance, wrist strap/footwear testing, ionizer performance).
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the ESD control program.
Monitor and analyze ESD data (e.g., audit findings, failure rates) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and maintenance teams to integrate ESD control into all aspects of plant operations.
Provide expert advice and technical support on ESD matters to various departments.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors regarding ESD requirements and performance.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in a similar role.
Preferably someone with applicable certification: ESD Association (ESDA) professional certifications (e.g., Certified ESD Program Manager, Certified TR53 Technician).
Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing ESD control programs.
Ability to exercise good judgment in providing ESD guidance.
Strong knowledge of computer applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks using Google, Microsoft, SAP, Minitab etc.
Strong knowledge of shop floor control and quality management documentation systems
Hands on ESD equipment: Ohmmeter, Advanced ground circuit tester, Charge plate monitor, Surface resistance meter kit, Digital Statistical Field Meter.
