A construction and infrastructure company in Malaysia is looking for a Dedicated Environmental Officer. The position involves managing environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives on projects, ensuring legal adherence, conducting environmental impact assessments, and overseeing waste management. Candidates should hold a relevant degree, have analytical and communication skills, and be computer literate. Proficiency in both Bahasa Malaysia and English is required, along with a valid class D driving license.
Dedicated Environmental Officer with expertise in managing environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for road construction and infrastructure projects. Skilled in conducting environmental impact assessments, monitoring site activities, and implementing mitigation measures to minimize ecological disturbance. Experienced in ensuring adherence to local, national, and international environmental regulations, including waste management, pollution control, and habitat preservation.
Ensuring Compliance: Monitoring daily operations and site activities to ensure adherence to relevant environmental laws, guidelines, and an Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
Conducting Audits and Inspections: Performing routine inspections and audits of facilities machinery, and systems (like wastewater treatment plants) to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Waste Management: Overseeing waste control, including the management of scheduled wastes, to ensure compliance with the Department of Environment (DOE) standards.
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): Assessing the environmental impact of proposed projects or activities and planning corrective and preventive measures to tackle environmental issues.
Reporting and Documentation: Preparing various reports, including monthly environmental reports and documentation for regulatory bodies (like the DOE), and maintaining records related to environmental performance.
Training and Awareness: Providing environmental training to project personnel and promoting environmental awareness within the organization.
Liaison: Acting as a key contact person and liaison with government officials and agencies on environmental matters.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Science with minimum 1 year of related experience in environmental management works or 3 years experience for personnel without degree qualification.
Skills: Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills are essential. The role often requires multitasking and a strong understanding of relevant laws and management systems like ISO 14001.
Computer literate with excellent communication skill.
Good proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English, both written and spoken.
Demonstrate positive attitude and results oriented.
Possess valid class D local driving license.
