We are currently seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Genesis team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

You will support environmental engineering studies and assessment studies for a variety of projects in Malaysia and overseas.

Main Accountabilities

The successful candidate will work within the Environmental Team, interfacing with the wider Genesis organisation through interactions with other discipline teams and providing environmental technical inputs on a variety of projects for public and private clients in Malaysia and overseas.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering comprehensive environmental assessments and solutions, supporting clients in achieving their sustainability and compliance goals. This role involves developing detailed reports, conducting carbon footprint analyses, identifying decarbonization opportunities, and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.

  • Develop and prepare detailed reports on environmental engineering studies, including data analysis and recommendations.
  • Conduct carbon footprint assessments in accordance with the GHG Protocol, ensuring accurate quantification of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend decarbonization strategies such as energy efficiency improvements, flare management, methane reduction, and renewable energy integration.
  • Characterize, quantify, and forecast emissions and discharges from various sources to support environmental management and reporting.
  • Review engineering design documentation and drawings to ensure environmental considerations are incorporated and compliant with standards.
  • Interpret and apply relevant environmental regulations, standards, and best practices to project work.
  • Provide technical advice on environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, ensuring project deliverables meet scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
About You

We’d love to hear from you if your profile meets the following essential requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical (with environment) engineering or related field.
  • Have minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant field
  • Proven experience in environmental assessments, emissions quantification, and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with GHG Protocol and decarbonization strategies
  • Strong analytical, report‑writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to review technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Proactive team player with excellent client interaction skills.
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines and be self‑motivated.
Preferred Attributes
  • Desire to develop new skills and gain diverse experience in environmental consulting.
  • Familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS or similar mapping tools.
  • Knowledge of carbon trading, climate financing regulations, policies, standards, and requirements.
  • Understanding of environmental engineering techniques and solutions, including pollution control and mitigation strategies.
