A global technology company is seeking an Electronic Engineer for Supplier Optimization in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. In this role, you will work with suppliers to enhance manufacturing solutions and evaluate performance in SMT and PCBA. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and has over 5 years of experience in ECM or related fields. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Collaborate with suppliers to develop cost-effective and technically optimized manufacturing solutions for electronic assemblies and products.
Evaluate supplier capabilities and performance, focusing on SMT, PCBA, testing, and assembly processes.
Lead improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, throughput, and cost competitiveness.
Partner with Commodity Managers to align supplier capabilities with long‑term business needs.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify electronic contract manufacturers (ECMs) to ensure a diverse and competitive supply base.
Conduct supplier audits and technical capability assessments to verify readiness.
Support supplier negotiations and drive effective problem‑solving.
Work with Engineering to ensure product designs align with supplier manufacturing processes and capabilities.
Lead DFM/DFX reviews with suppliers and provide feedback to Engineering to improve manufacturability and reduce cost.
Support should‑cost and cost breakdown analyses for electronic components and assemblies.
Technical & NPI Support
Provide technical guidance to suppliers during prototype, pilot, and mass production phases.
Support supplier process documentation including PFMEA, control plan, and build readiness verification.
Troubleshoot process issues and coordinate root‑cause resolution during new product development (NPD) builds.
Participate in engineering builds to validate supplier readiness and cost targets.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Engineering, Site Operations, Commodity Managers, and Supply Chain Analysts (NPI/NPD) to integrate supplier insights into sourcing and design decisions.
Support project schedules, BOM cost tracking, and supplier performance reporting.
Provide regular updates and technical recommendations to cross‑functional teams.
Collaborate to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
Identify and implement process optimization, automation, and lean manufacturing improvements with suppliers.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging electronics manufacturing technologies.
Perform cost breakdown analysis and identify cost‑saving initiatives.
Analyze market trends, cost drivers, and supplier performance for continuous improvement.
Who You Are:
For This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in ECM/EMS, PCBA, or manufacturing-related functions such as Design, Manufacturing, or Component Engineering.
Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools.
Experience in cost accounting, BOM management, and supplier process control.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global teams.
Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
Knowledge of DFM/DFX, process capability, and electronic assembly technologies.
Familiarity with ERP systems and supplier quality tools (PFMEA, control plans, capability studies).
