Job description
Role Purpose

To plan and lead a team to perform maintenance activities for optimum efficiency and cost.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Quality Management:
    • Maintain and update FSSC 22000, HACCP & other system for the department.
    • Liaison with various parties concerned to support the necessary preparations, audits and regulatory compliance's.
  2. Machinery, Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:
    • Lead, motivate, plan and coordinate the electricians to carry out the maintenance activities for optimum machine uptime.
    • Lead and motivate the team for troubleshooting, repair & upkeep of the machinery and overall factory equipment.
    • Perform hands‑on troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, control panels, motors, drives, and power distribution equipment.
    • Diagnose and rectify wiring faults, sensor failures, and instrument malfunctions in production equipment.
    • Carry out root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize recurrence.
    • Troubleshoot, modify, and fine‑tune PLC programs (Siemens / Allen‑Bradley / Panasonic / Omron) to ensure smooth plant operation.
    • Attend to programming issues and provide timely support to production teams.
    • Maintain and update SCADA systems, ensuring accurate real‑time data display, alarms, and control functionality.
    • Liaise with automation vendors for program back‑up, software updates, and system upgrades.
    • Conduct condition‑based inspections and monitoring of electrical devices such as MCCs, transformers, switch‑gears, drives, and control panels.
    • Support the planning and execution of preventive maintenance and calibration schedules to ensure high reliability and minimum downtime.
    • Keep proper records of maintenance activities, inspection results, and electrical performance trends. Maintain proper documentation for electrical system drawings, single line diagrams, and equipment histories.
    • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new electrical and control systems in the plant.
    • Participate in energy‑saving initiatives and automation improvement projects to enhance process efficiency and equipment reliability.
    • Provide technical input for equipment modification or replacement proposals.
    • Provide standby coverage and attend breakdowns promptly, including after‑office hours, weekends, or night shifts if required.
    • Ensure quick response to critical plant issues to minimize production disruption.
    • Coordinate closely with production, mechanical, and production teams to resolve multidisciplinary issues.
    • Collaborate with all the departments in identifying opportunities to continuously improve production methods/ techniques and cost savings projects.
    • Work collaboratively with maintenance, production, and utility teams to maintain plant reliability.
    • Report maintenance findings, improvement recommendations and incident summaries to the Maintenance Manager.
  3. Operations Management:
    • Lead and motivate the team for optimum performance with technical support.
    • Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians and electricians.
    • Coordination and mobilising of resources for smooth execution of missions.
  4. Safeguarding occupational health and safety:
    • Ensure all electrical work complies with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations, electrical safety standards, and company safety procedures.
  5. Food Safety Reporting:
    • Report food safety concerns or issues in the workplace to superiors.
  6. Ad hoc Assignment:
    • To perform other duties as assigned by Management from time to time.
Qualifications and Experiences
Qualifications
  • Training / Certification in PLC and SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, GE Fanuc, Panasonic, Beckhoff, Allen Bradley, etc).
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical standards and safety regulations, including GMP, HACCP, and electrical safety practices in food plants.
  • Able to work independently, under pressure, and respond swiftly to plant emergencies.
  • Possession of Electrical Chargeman AO / BO certificate is an added advantage.
Education

Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Professional Certification in related field.

Skills
  • Strong knowledge in PLC (Siemens / Allen‑Bradley / Omron) and SCADA systems.
  • Familiar with power distribution, motor control, VSDs, instrumentation, and panel wiring.
  • Technical knowledge in machinery, equipment maintenance.
  • Calm and resilient with logical thinking.
  • Proactive and predictive to deal with technical issues and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate inter‑departmental activities effectively.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address potential issues proactively.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
Computer Literacy

Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of working experience in industrial plant maintenance, preferably in food processing / margarine / palm oil industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in overseeing project/ improvement management.
  • Previous experience in leading and managing a team of maintenance crews.
Knowledgeable in
  • ISO 22000 Food Safety System Certification Systems
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
