A leading company in health and safety is seeking an EHS Officer in Malaysia to ensure compliance across all departments. This role involves monitoring risks, implementing safety protocols, and conducting audits both internally and with subcontractors. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in science or engineering, 12+ years of experience in health, safety, and environment practices, and knowledge of safety management systems. The position offers opportunities to engage with multi-site operations and client interactions.
The EHS Officer is responsible for supporting workplace health and safety compliance across all departments and operational activities. This role ensures that working environments, equipment, and processes meet regulatory requirements and industry standards by monitoring risks, implementing safety procedures, and promoting a culture of safe work practices.
Supports the Top Management in the HSE Policy and Guidelines issue.
Supports the Top Management in the Organization roles and responsibilities definition, for what concerns safety aspects.
Supports the Top Management in the HSE Management System standard issue.
Ensures, in accordance with the Corporate guidelines, the implementation, updating, review and auditing of the Company HSE Systems.
Monitors multi-sites the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in Legislation and Company Directives.
Maintain the safety statistical record for the company and report periodically.
Provides for motivation and familiarization of all multi-sites Company personnel respecting the importance of complying with Company system procedures and all Safety equipment provided.
Assists the Commercial, Engineering and Operations Department in their dealings with Clients in all issues concerned with Health and Safety at work.
Conducts safety audits both multi-sites internal and external.
Carries out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
Provides technical support to Senior Management on any safety related subjects.
Carries out any in-house multi-sites safety training.
Carries out safety audits on Sub-contractors.
Liaises between Clients on safety related issues.
Provides safeties-related engineering input into new projects and modification programs.
Participates in EHS discussion prior to procurement and installation activities.
Preparation of Health and Safety documentation for new tenders.
Provides Safety support and advice, including supervision on preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start up activities.
Bachelor's degree in science/engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in HSE and Fire & Safety Management Systems.
12 or above years’ experience in Health, Safety and Environment in factory manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems, Environmental Discharges, Incident Command System, Incident Investigation, HSE Auditing Techniques, Radiological Safety.
Industrial Hygiene, and Gas Dispersion, Modelling, Explosion Indices and ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001.
