A multinational manufacturing company located in Kulim, Malaysia, is seeking an EHS Specialist to lead safety initiatives and compliance within the facility. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, leading emergency training, and ensuring adherence to EHS regulations. The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in an engineering field and have significant experience in a manufacturing environment. This role emphasizes building a positive safety culture and collaborating with plant leadership while ensuring regulatory compliance.
With minimal supervision, this position performs varied and integral administrative tasks within the EHS department. This role requires in-depth knowledge of facility manufacturing operations, corporate policies, and procedures as well as a working and in-depth knowledge of legal EHS compliance. This role partners with both frontline associates and plant leadership to successfully implement EHS Department goals and initiatives to reduce injuries and create a positive safety culture. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent. Or a Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science degree in a Technical Field or Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, and 5 or more years of relevant manufacturing experience. Has or willing to work towards a Green Book Certification, an auditing certification.

Support for on-site visits with EHS regulators and auditors.
Serve the Safety Committee.
Supports the roll-out of the EHS Component in BD Excellence.
Execute and track controlled document revisions and tracking of revisions for safety documents.
Audit safety procedures and JSAs. Support in creation of procedures to incorporate EHS needs.
Perform housekeeping and facility audits to ensure facility is “inspection” ready.
Develop an understanding of the necessary rules and legal EH&S compliance, as well as company and industry loss prevention standards, providing facility supervisors with input on pertinent changes as necessary. This will include attending pertinent safety training seminars as needed.
Develop a good working relationship with all associates and supervisors so they are comfortable in sharing EHS related concerns and issues.
