Business Central Functional Consultant (Manufacturing)

About the Role
We are establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility focused on plant-based protein production. As part of our digital and systems foundation, we are implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) as our core ERP system.
We are seeking an experienced Business Central Functional Consultant with 4–6 years of hands-on experience to lead the functional implementation, configuration, and optimization of BC—especially around manufacturing, production, supply chain, quality, finance integration, and plant-related operations. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and plant operations teams to ensure a successful ERP rollout.
Key Responsibilities
1. ERP Implementation & Configuration
- Lead functional design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Business Central modules (Manufacturing, MRP/MPS, Production Orders, Item Tracking, Inventory, WMS, Purchasing, Sales, Finance Integration).
- Translate business requirements from plant operations into functional BC configurations.
- Support creation of To-Be process flows, functional design documents, and UAT scenarios.
2. Manufacturing & Plant Operations Focus
- Configure and support manufacturing functionalities including:
- BOMs & Routings
- Machine centers & work centers
- Capacity planning
- Production planning & scheduling
- Consumption & output posting
- Standard costing / process costing
- Quality testing workflows
- Ensure ERP processes align with real-world manufacturing workflows in raw material receiving, production, quality, packing, and warehousing.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Production, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse, and Finance to support end-to-end process alignment.
- Act as the internal SME for BC during plant commissioning and go-live.
- Coordinate with system integrators, external vendors, and partners for specialized modules.
4. Data Migration & System Integration
- Support data migration for items, BOMs, routings, vendors, customers, opening balances, etc.
- Ensure integrations with MES, SCADA, QC/LIMS, WMS, and other plant technologies where needed.
- Define master data governance rules and maintain data accuracy across systems.
5. Training & Change Management
- Prepare user documentation, SOPs, and training materials.
- Conduct training workshops for end-users across plant teams.
- Support change management to drive ERP adoption and proper usage.
6. Post-Go-Live Support
- Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and enhancements.
- Ensure issue resolution within SLAs and continuous process improvement.
- Monitor system usage and optimize configurations based on operational feedback.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience implementing or supporting Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Strong functional knowledge of:
- Manufacturing modules (essential)
- Inventory & warehouse
- Procurement
- Sales & distribution
- Finance module interaction
- Experience in end-to-end ERP project lifecycle: requirements → design → configuration → testing → training → go-live.
- Experience working in/with manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
- Ability to draft functional design documents and business process flows.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate operations needs into system solutions.
- Experience with data migration, integrations, and reporting (Power BI is a plus).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with food manufacturing, process manufacturing, or plant-based protein industry (added advantage).
- Understanding of manufacturing costing (standard vs actual).
- Familiarity with WMS, QC/LIMS, MES integrations, automation workflows.
- Knowledge of Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced implementation environments.
