1. Job Summary
The Draughtsman is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed technical drawings for electrical and construction-related projects in accordance with industry standards, client requirements, and project specifications. The role requires close coordination with engineers, site supervisors, and the project team to ensure that all drawings are clear, complete, and compliant for site execution.
2. Key Responsibilities
a. Technical Drawings & Documentation
- Prepare, revise, and update technical drawings using AutoCAD or related drafting software.
- Produce drawings such as Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLD), electrical layouts, schematics, cable routing, trunking/conduit layouts, and other construction-related drawings.
- Prepare shop drawings, as-built drawings, submission drawings, and other required documents.
- Ensure all drawings comply with technical standards, safety codes, and project specifications.
b. Coordination & Project Support
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, consultants, and authorities to obtain technical information.
- Review and ensure alignment between architectural, structural, and M&E drawings.
- Update design revisions according to instructions from engineers or project management.
c. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy of measurements, technical symbols, and details in all drawings.
- Maintain proper records, version control, and documentation for all drawings.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports when required.
d. Other Responsibilities
- Support the project team in preparing tender documents or technical proposals.
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors or management from time to time.
JOB SPECIFICATION (JS)
1. Education & Qualifications
- Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Drafting Technology, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Civil/Mechanical) or related discipline is an added advantage.
- Formal training in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM or relevant design software is an advantage.
2. Experience
- At least 1–3 years of experience in electrical or construction drafting.
- Experience in preparing shop drawings, as-built drawings, and electrical layouts is highly preferred.
- Fresh graduates with strong skills may also be considered.
3. Technical Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2D/3D drafting.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, SLD, and M&E drawing coordination.
- Knowledge of technical symbols, drawing scales, and drafting standards.
- Skills in Revit, BIM, or other 3D design tools are an advantage.
4. Soft Skills
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy in drafting.
- Good communication skills (verbal & written).
- Able to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
