Why join us?

Some careers have more impact than others. If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Delivery Manager.

Wealth Personal Banking (WPB) Global Transformation Project Managers/Delivery Managers plan, mobilise, and direct projects of high complexity and scale from inception to closure. They are responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of projects, proactively managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, team, outcomes, and benefits. Projects may be standalone or part of a programme. They support WPB in delivering business outcomes through successful project and programme delivery, working closely with Business, Product Owners, Technologies, Programme Managers, and the Global Portfolio Management Office to align projects with the wider change portfolio and Group Strategy, Values, and Behaviours.

What you’ll do:

Delivery Managers often play a people/team management role within their projects or programmes. As part of the WPB Global Transformation management team, they also have line management responsibility for junior resources within their resource pool, including Delivery Managers or Business Analysts. Responsibilities include people management, performance management, resource management, and professional development.

Value Creation:

  • Plan effectively around delivery constraints to maximize benefits and minimize risks, developing plans considering approach, milestones, dependencies, scope, effort, resources, budgets, and quality.
  • Manage baselined scope, requirements, benefits, schedule, and budget as per HSBC Change Framework, intervening when there are slippages or variances.
  • Track costs, operating and capital spend, and report against financial commitments.
  • Oversee risks, issues, and dependencies, assessing impacts and taking action to minimize effects, actively removing obstacles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and business partners to drive project outcomes, representing the project in prioritization discussions and risk mitigation planning.
  • Obtain sponsor and stakeholder buy-in, sign-offs, and feedback, capturing lessons learned to improve methodologies.
  • Ensure smooth transition and realization of business benefits through effective change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Work closely with delivery partners on planning, design, estimating, and managing dependencies.
  • Set the pace and operating rhythm, promoting a culture of achievement and removing barriers to success.

Operational Performance:

  • Create detailed project plans, define milestones, and assign responsibilities.
  • Develop and review estimates and assumptions, manage project budgets, risks, and issues.
  • Ensure quality assurance, governance, and adherence to HSBC Change Framework.
  • Lead project steering committees, escalate issues, and report project status regularly.

Capability and People Development:

  • Identify resource needs and ensure effective team formation with appropriate skills.
  • Provide induction, set responsibilities, and offer regular feedback and coaching.
  • Act as a role model, promote professional development, and manage performance, including underperformers.
  • Maintain a focus on creating a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with Group Values and strategy.
