Job summary

A leading data infrastructure company in Johor is seeking an experienced operations manager to oversee daily operations and maintenance of critical systems. The ideal candidate will have a Professional Engineering Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, compliance management, and supervising vendor work. Proficiency in English and familiarity with critical data center systems such as HVAC and UPS are essential. A valid Electrical switching certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in English through all mediums of communication.
  • Good knowledge of laws governing building management and maintenance.
  • Professional Engineering Diploma with min. 3 years experience.
  • Valid Electrical switching certificate for LV/HT systems preferred.
  • Understanding of HVAC, standby emergency power, and UPS systems.
  • Proficient in computer software applications.

Responsibilities

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage daily operations and maintenance tasks on assigned shifts, ensuring optimal performance of critical systems with minimal disruption to clients.

Perform and oversee troubleshooting, repairs, service requests, and follow-up inspections to maintain uninterrupted facility operations.

Operate, maintain, and inspect critical infrastructure systems including HVAC, CRAC, UPS, batteries, PDUs, generators, BMS, fire protection, life safety, and digital security systems.

Ensure compliance with Change Control Application Processes and standard operating procedures.

Supervise vendor maintenance work, verify adherence to work methods, and elevate anomalies to Lead Engineer for resolution.

Oversee and execute change management activities, including LOTO procedures and system modifications.

Monitor fire alarm and safety systems, including enable/disable functions as necessary.

Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians.

Support and implement preventive maintenance programs, including scheduling, supervision, parts ordering, and inventory management.

Operate the monitoring center during shifts, handling incident escalation, reporting, root cause analysis, and service restoration.

Ensure SLA compliance, including timely incident escalation and reporting to clients.

Manage work orders, source materials, document completed work, and finalize job orders.

Promote safety by adhering to local regulations and company policies, identifying hazards, using PPE, and ensuring clean, safe workspaces.

Maintain accurate inventory of tools and supplies, initiate procurement requests, and monitor stock levels.

Ensure regulatory compliance across infrastructure operations and report discrepancies to senior management.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the company.

REQUIREMENTS

Proficient in English through all mediums of communication. Ability to write and review good quality detailed work scripts, methods of procedure, and standard operating procedures. Prepare incident report.

Good knowledge of all laws that govern building management and maintenance, including building safety, emergency evacuation and environment protection.

Professional Engineering Diploma in an Engineering field (Mechanical or Electrical) with min. 3 years of relevant work experience. Candidate with other professional certificate has advantage.

A valid Electrical switching certificate and/or license (Chargeman) for LV/HT electrical system is preferred

Some technical knowledge with hands on knowledge/experience and understanding of critical data center systems, including HVAC, Standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated infrastructure.

Proficient in computer applications and software, including commercial computerized maintenance management systems, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
