Job summary

A leading technology firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Data Center Facility Engineer to ensure operational stability and timely incident resolution within their facilities. Responsibilities include fault diagnosis, maintenance management, and ensuring compliance with operational standards. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with experience in data centers and knowledge of critical facility systems. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a shift schedule are essential.

Job description
Data Center Facility Engineer (Based KL)

Perform on-site facility duty according to Alibaba’s requirement of 5*8 /7*24IDC coverage.

Ensure prompt response to operational and maintenance (O&M) incidents during non-working hours.

Arrive at the site quickly and handle emergencies in compliance with the event management procedures.

Maintain stable system operations and provide on-site technical support during emergencies.

2. Infrastructure Data Maintenance

Update and maintain complete and accurate facility infrastructure information with 100% data integrity.

Conduct regular checks on platform alarm settings and monitor system availability and stability.

3. Incident Response & Resolution

Respond rapidly to incidents and reach the site in accordance with the O&M event management standards.

Handle incidents based on EOP (Emergency Operation Procedures), report promptly, and follow through until full recovery.

Conduct root cause analysis and ensure all issues are closed in a timely and compliant manner.

4. Fault Diagnosis

Possess a thorough understanding of the electrical, HVAC, and low-voltage system architecture and operating principles within the IDC facility.

Quickly identify and locate faults during incidents and implement recovery measures effectively.

Track, mitigate, and close identified facility and operational risks in a timely and structured manner.

6. Maintenance & Change Management

Independently develop and execute MOPs (Methods of Procedure) for facility maintenance or modification projects.

Ensure all changes are implemented safely and without causing service disruptions.

Proactively identify and propose optimization or upgrade plans for infrastructure monitoring, capacity, safety, and availability.

8. Compliance & Additional Duties

Perform additional tasks as requested by the manager.

Job Requirements:

Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

Years of experience in data center facility operations, electrical/mechanical maintenance, or related areas.

Familiarity with IDC environments or critical facility systems preferred.

Technical Skills:

Good understanding of electrical power distribution, HVAC, UPS, CRAC, and fire suppression systems.

Experience with monitoring platforms, alarm systems, and incident management procedures.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; capable of quick decision-making in emergencies.

Good communication and teamwork skills with a high sense of responsibility.

Others:

Able to work on a rotational shift schedule or respond to incidents outside normal hours.

Basic English reading and documentation skills preferred.
