Responsibilities:

1. Decontamination & Cleaning

• Perform proper decontamination, cleaning, and disinfection of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Operate washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and manual cleaning processes according to protocol.
• Segregate contaminated, clean, and sterile items to prevent cross-contamination.

2. Inspection, Assembly & Packaging

• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, damage, or wear.
• Assemble surgical instrument sets according to standard trays and surgeon preferences.
• Package and label instruments correctly prior to sterilization.

3. Sterilization Process

• Operate sterilization equipment (e.g. steam autoclave, low-temperature sterilizers).
• Load, run, and unload sterilizers following validated cycles and safety procedures.
• Monitor sterilization parameters and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

4. Storage & Distribution

• Store sterile supplies in accordance with recommended conditions.
• Issue sterile instruments and consumables to Operating Theatre and other clinical areas.
• Ensure timely availability of instruments for scheduled and emergency surgeries.

5. Infection Control & Safety

• Comply with hospital infection prevention and control policies.
• Adhere to occupational safety guidelines, including use of PPE.
• Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

1. Education & Certification

• Minimum SPM level and above.
• Certificate or Diploma in CSSD / Sterile Processing / Healthcare Support is an advantage.

2. Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in CSSD, Operating Theatre, or hospital support services preferred.

3. Technical Knowledge & Skills
