Job Summary

To mitigate credit and investment risk through the provision of independent, comprehensive credit risk assessments, ensuring prudence and sound judgment in credit and investment approval processes. This role is pivotal in minimizing impaired credits and impairment provisions across the Bank and its subsidiaries, thereby safeguarding the overall credit quality of the Group’s portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
Desired Goals
Enhance and Validate Credit Rating Models
  • Coordinate the review and enhancement of existing credit rating models and assess newly developed models for relevance and accuracy.
  • Organize and manage testing sessions for enhanced and new rating models to ensure user acceptance and effective implementation.
Validation and Back-Testing of Rating Models
  • Coordinate data retrieval from the rating model database and other relevant sources for validation exercises.
  • Facilitate consultants or independent parties in data cleaning, model validation, and performance assessment.
Customer / Business Partner Focus
  • Conduct independent credit risk assessments and rating validations on new and existing credit/investment proposals and variation requests from BPMB, PLC, and GMV.
  • Perform validation of risk ratings using approved credit rating models and ensure accuracy in the assessment of obligors and guarantors.
  • Prepare Credit Risk Analysis Reports / Investment Risk Analysis Reports within stipulated turnaround times and with minimal supervision.
  • Manage expectations and maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and counterparties.
  • Participate in strategic projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing credit quality and strengthening credit risk culture across the Banking Group.
  • Represent the department at Committee Meetings to provide clarifications and relevant inputs on queries raised.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members in credit risk assessment to promote continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team.
Internal Process
  • Maintain and continuously enhance the Credit Risk Management Framework, Credit Risk Management Policy, Credit Rating Guide, and related procedures.
    • Review and update policies to align with current internal controls and regulatory requirements.
    • Revise the Credit Rating Guide to ensure it accurately reflects current processes, parameters, and guiding principles for credit and guarantor assessments.
    • Update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for credit risk evaluation and establish new procedures as needed to strengthen risk management practices.

  • Participate in relevant training programs, courses, and seminars to enhance technical and professional knowledge.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new or junior team members to develop departmental capabilities.
Job Requirements
  • Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Professional Certification (advantageous): Chartered Banker, Certified Credit Professional (Business), or OMEGA Credit Skills Assessment (CSA).
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in credit risk management, including credit evaluation and appraisal.
  • Technical Competencies:
    • Strong analytical capability with the ability to critically assess financial and non-financial information in project or financing proposals.
    • In-depth knowledge of financial statement and cash flow analysis.
    • Solid understanding of industry dynamics and risk drivers.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Behavioral Competencies:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
    • Detail‑oriented, structured, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
