About the Team

The Corporate Communications team at Shopee Malaysia is responsible for managing the brand’s external reputation and internal messaging across key stakeholders, including media, partners, and employees. Working closely with regional and cross-functional teams, we ensure alignment in messaging, proactive storytelling, and effective risk mitigation.

This role requires a strong grasp of the media and business landscape in Malaysia, a passion for the tech and e-commerce industries, and a strategic mindset for communications planning. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the local narrative for Shopee while contributing to broader regional goals through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Job Description
  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans to build and protect the reputation of Shopee in Malaysia.
  • Localise and amplify narratives and campaigns for the Malaysian market.
  • Lead the creation of high-quality communications materials, including press releases, media responses, key message documents, op-eds, speeches, and executive talking points.
  • Serve as the quality gatekeeper for high-risk internal and external communications, ensuring message clarity, tone, and alignment with brand values across teams.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media, serving as a reliable and credible point of contact.
  • Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and industry trends to provide insights and recommendations for proactive storytelling or issues management.
  • Work cross-functionally with regional counterparts, internal stakeholders, and agency partners to ensure consistent messaging and integrated campaign execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or Journalism; experience in fast-paced or tech-related industries preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Good to have: Track record in media relations and issue/crisis handling.
  • Passionate about digital platforms, e-commerce, and storytelling.
