The Malaysian Bar is seeking to fill a vacancy for the position of Contracts Specialist in our Law, Policy and Special Projects Department. The successful candidate will play a role in supporting the Malaysian Bar, primarily by drafting, reviewing, negotiating, advising on and overseeing the implementation of various types of contracts between the Bar and external parties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in negotiations with external parties, including Bar associations from other jurisdictions, academic institutions, Government agencies, civil society organisations and commercial vendors.
- Liaise with the other departments and stakeholders within the Bar on the negotiation, drafting and reviewing of contracts.
- Draft and review contracts, as well as design, update and maintain contract templates.
- Provide legal and practical advice on matters connected to the negotiation, drafting and reviewing of contracts.
- Manage the Bar's database of finalised contracts.
- Engage in issues following the execution and implementation of contracts, such as disagreements or disputes.
Requirements:
Education and work experience:
- Possess, at the minimum, an undergraduate degree in law from a recognised university.
- Minimum of five years post-qualification experience as a legal practitioner.
