Overview

On behalf of our client, a globally renowned Project & Cost Management Consultant, we are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a major Hotel Refurbishment Project in Kuala Lumpur. This is an exciting opportunity to join an international consultancy as they expand their footprint in Malaysia, playing a pivotal role in shaping project delivery standards across the region.

In this role, you will oversee all construction activities on a complex, live‑environment hospitality refurbishment, ensuring seamless execution, strict safety compliance, and alignment with client expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead all on‑site construction activities for a large-scale hotel refurbishment project.
  • Oversee coordination across architectural, interior design & structural workstreams.
  • Drive the construction programme, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
  • Act as the primary site‑based representative, maintaining strong communication with the client, hotel operator, consultants, and contractors.
  • Monitor daily progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures to avoid delays or operational disruptions.
  • Manage works within a live hotel environment, ensuring minimal impact on guest operations and overall hotel functionality.
  • Review construction methodologies, shop drawings, and method statements to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee contractor performance, providing direction on sequencing, logistics, and site coordination.
  • Ensure safety regulations, QA/QC standards, and project governance requirements are strictly adhered to.
  • Support change control processes, variation assessments, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare regular site reports covering progress, risks, safety, and commercial considerations.
Requirements
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in construction management, with strong exposure to hotel refurbishments, hospitality fit‑outs, or major interior upgrades.
  • Proven background working on fast‑track refurbishment projects within live environments.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage contractors and multidiscipline site teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Solid knowledge of construction sequencing, safety management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and drive projects to meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Malaysia’s construction regulations, permits, and safety standards is advantageous.
  • Candidates currently based in Malaysia or with existing work rights are preferred.
