Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a skilled engineer for a crucial role in configuration management and product lifecycle support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing system BOMs and managing engineering changes in a collaborative environment. Applicants should have a Bachelor of Science in engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in PLM and ERP systems is essential, alongside strong communication and problem-solving skills. This position is based in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience with complex products, preferably in configuration management.
• Strong familiarity with manufacturing processes, field installation, and service support.
• Demonstrated proficiency with PLM and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain complex system BOMs ensuring product performance and configuration accuracy.
• Own the end-to-end BOM release and engineering change management process in the PLM system.
• Collaborate with program managers and the engineering team during early stages to maximize platform modularity and maintainability.
• Lead BOM-related master plan reviews and support manufacturing initiatives.
• Perform advanced data analysis to identify and resolve master data errors.

Job description

This role is essential for strengthening BOM configuration integrity, accelerating Engineering Change Management (ECM) cycle times, and providing consistent support across the full product development lifecycle. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to maintain accurate product documentation, enforce effective configuration control, and ensure high‑quality master data—capabilities that are critical to sustaining operational excellence and supporting upcoming production ramp‑up activities.

Key Responsibilities Summary:

• Establish and maintain complex system BOMs ensuring product performance and configuration accuracy.
• Own the end‑to‑end BOM release and engineering change management process in the PLM system.
• Collaborate with program managers and the engineering team during early stages to maximize platform modularity, configurability, maintainability, and commonality.
• Lead BOM‑related master plan reviews and support manufacturing initiatives (Kaizen, VSM, labor efficiency, safety).
• Perform advanced data analysis to identify and resolve master data errors; define system improvements to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure product documentation accuracy across design, test, and acceptance requirements.

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with complex products, preferably in configuration management.
• Strong familiarity with manufacturing processes, field installation, and service support.
• Demonstrated proficiency with PLM and ERP systems.
• Strong communication skills, highly organized, with excellent English proficiency.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and resiliency working with multidisciplinary teams.
