Commercial Director - Malaysia (in-country position for Malasia National)

We are looking for an experienced, strategic, and results-focused Commercial Director to lead our regional office in Malaysia. This role combines strong commercial leadership with full responsibility for regional operations, financial performance, and people management. You will drive revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure smooth, efficient operations across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy for your region and customer portfolio.
  • Act as General Manager of the regional office, ensuring commercial, operational, and financial goals are met.
  • Manage revenue, budgeting, forecasting, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify growth opportunities and drive adoption of company products and services.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing regional team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Operations, Finance, Technology) to deliver excellent customer experiences.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Drive upselling and cross-selling of the full product suite.
  • Lead negotiations for major contracts and partnerships.
  • Represent the company at key industry events and client engagements.
Revenue & Market Growth
  • Develop and execute regional and account growth plans.
  • Identify new business opportunities and emerging market needs.
  • Work with internal teams to introduce new solutions and improve customer retention.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
Regional Office Management
  • Oversee day-to-day regional operations, ensuring financial discipline, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Serve as the senior company representative in the region.
  • Lead talent development, employee engagement, and culture-building.
  • Maintain strong governance and risk management practices.
    Performance Management
    • Set and track KPIs for commercial and operational performance.
    • Use data and insights to drive improvements.
    • Present regular performance and market reports to senior leadership.
    Industry Expertise
    • Stay informed on industry trends, regulations, and technologies.
    • Use market intelligence to guide strategy and advise leadership.
    • Strengthen the company’s position in the Fintech and Telecom sectors.
    Requirements
    • Master’s degree or MBA.
    • 10+ years’ experience in Account Management, Commercial Leadership, or Regional Management (Telecoms or Fintech preferred).
    • Minimum 8 years in the Telecoms industry.
    • Proven experience managing P&L, regional operations, or multi-country portfolios.
    • Strong understanding of cultural, political, and regulatory environments in the region.
    Advantageous
    • Experience in Telecoms Customer Value Management or VAS.
    • Successful track record in upselling and cross-selling enterprise solutions.
