Job Purpose

The Clerk of Works will act as the client’s representative on-site to ensure that all construction works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, statutory regulations, and quality standards. The role ensures proper supervision, monitoring, and reporting of site activities to safeguard the employer’s interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Supervision & Inspection

    • Monitor and inspect daily construction activities.
    • Ensure works are carried out in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
    • Conduct inspections at critical stages (formwork, reinforcement, concreting, finishes, etc.).
  • Quality Assurance

    • Check materials delivered and used at site to ensure compliance with specifications.
    • Identify and report defective works, poor workmanship, or non‑conformance issues.
    • Witness material tests, commissioning, and ensure rectifications are carried out.
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting

    • Keep accurate site records, including site diaries, inspection reports, and progress updates.
    • Verify work progress against the construction programme and highlight delays.
    • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for submission to consultants/employer.
  • Coordination

    • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and subcontractors on site‑related issues.
    • Ensure instructions from the Project Manager/Consultants are communicated and implemented.
    • Attend site and coordination meetings, authorities inspections (as and when required).
  • Compliance & Safety

    • Ensure works comply with UBBL, local authority requirements, and contract specifications.
    • Monitor site safety practices and immediately report unsafe acts or conditions.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 4 years of site supervision experience in building/infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian building codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Proficient in reading drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong communication, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • CIDB Green Card holder (mandatory).
Additional Advantages
  • Certification from ICoW (Institute of Clerk of Works Malaysia) is an added advantage.
  • Experience in high‑rise, commercial, mixed development, or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with ISO/QAQC procedures and construction safety practices.
Employment Terms
  • Type: [Contract / Permanent]
  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8.00am – 5.00pm
  • Saturday 8.00am – 1.00pm
  • Allowance/Benefits: Medical, insurance, etc.
