We are seeking a talented and experienced Chinese Head Chef to lead our culinary team at Avani Kota Kinabalu Hotel. As the Chinese Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our Chinese kitchen operations, creating innovative menus, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation.

  • Develop and implement new Chinese menu items, incorporating local Malaysian ingredients and flavors when appropriate
  • Lead and mentor a team of kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards in all kitchen operations
  • Manage kitchen inventory, costs, and budgets to maintain profitability
  • Collaborate with the management team to enhance overall dining experiences
  • Oversee food preparation, plating, and quality control for all Chinese dishes
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate innovative techniques into menu offerings
  • Participate in staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
  • Maintain relationships with local suppliers to source high‑quality ingredients
Qualifications
  • Proven experience of 5‑7 years as a Chinese chef, with at least 2‑3 years in a leadership role
  • Expert knowledge of Chinese cuisine, cooking techniques, and culinary traditions
