Job description

The CIO is responsible for defining and executing the organization’s technology strategy across all platforms, including ERP and Platform Services & Technology Solutions, and other enterprise systems. This role ensures that IT infrastructure, applications, and digital transformation initiatives align with business objectives, drive operational efficiency, and support growth across the region.

Budget creation, management, and compliance. Security management and compliance to internal and external requirements.

The role will be based in the Malaysia Petaling Jaya Office supporting the Malaysia region, as well as new subsidiaries once they become operative. The company is planning on growing to new markets in the region (Australia, China, for example) and the CIO role will be an integral part of that expansion. A successful CIO should have in-depth knowledge of the current and up-and-coming trends in the IT field.

To be successful, the CIO will be highly analytical, professional, and possess excellent organizational skills. The CIO will help store, evaluate and apply data strategies to the company’s daily operations to improve company development. As a member of an organization’s executive team, the CIO must have strong business acumen, outstanding communication skills, strategic planning skills and knowledge of an organization’s internal operations and technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement regional IT strategy aligned with company’s business goals.

Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance customer experience and operational excellence.

Ensure technological investments deliver measurable business value.

Platform Development & Management

Oversee the implementation, maintenance and optimization of SAP ERP system for finance, supply chain, dealers and operations.

Implement, maintenance and optimization of new Business Support System and other technology solutions for new business.

Implement, maintenance and optimization of IT infrastructure across the region.

Integrate emerging technologies (AI, Cloud, Analytics) into existing system.

Oversee all technology matters, operations and system infrastructure for the company.

Manage various technology teams including operations, planning, Level 2 support ops, technology infrastructure, business analyst, solutions architect, quality assurance, dev operations.

Determine short, mid and long-term plans to support the company’s strategy.

Establish security architecture and implement controls to ensure data is secure.

Develop, evaluate and run IT projects in line with organizational objectives.

Project Management and technology systems (BSS, OCS, logistics, BI systems, Campaigns systems, communications platforms, etc).

Prepare and manage Capex / Opex budgets and ensure effective management and utilization of it.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure IT governance framework for data security, privacy and regulatory compliance (e.g. ISO27001:2013).

Ensure adherence to cybersecurity standards and risk management protocols.

Developing and enforcing IT best practices and policies across the organization.

Build and manage a diverse IT organization across multiple geographies, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

Manage various teams including operations, planning, Level 1 & 2 support ops, technology infrastructure, business analyst, solutions architect, quality assurance & developers.

Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement and cost optimization.

Champion innovation to maintain competitive advantage in the digital space.

Staying updated on IT trends and emerging technologies.

Establish strong partnerships with technology vendors and service providers to drive cost optimization, performance, and innovation.

Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure value delivery and compliance with organizational standards.

Monitor vendor performance and leverage strategic relationships to support digital transformation and scalability.

Qualifications

Proven experience as CIO or similar managerial role in Telecommunication industry.

Excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure.

Background in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation.

Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations.

Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

A strong strategic and business mindset.

Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

BSc/BA in IT, computer science, engineering or relevant field;

MSc/MA in IT, Computer Science will be preferred.

Experience supporting multi country operations.

Experience in Acquisitions / Divestments projects.

At least 12- 15 years’ experience in managerial role.

Understand Ran Technology or Technical operations.

Prefer worked in Telecommunication industry.

Highly Technology and digital savvy.
