Position Title: High School DP Chemistry and MYP Integrated Science Teacher

Reports To: Middle/High School Principal

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic educator to teach Chemistry in the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and Integrated Science in the Middle Years Programme (MYP). This role provides an opportunity to inspire students through inquiry‑based learning, fostering curiosity, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of scientific concepts. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our science program, contributing to both curriculum development and student engagement in the laboratory and classroom.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with IB DP Chemistry and MYP Integrated Science frameworks.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments that promote conceptual understanding and inquiry skills.
  • Prepare students for IB assessments, including Internal Assessments and external examinations.
  • Integrate global issues such as sustainability, resource management, and environmental chemistry into lessons.
  • Encourage ethical scientific practice and critical thinking.
Planning and Collaboration
  • Develop lesson plans and assessments consistent with IB standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across MYP and DP science courses to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Share strategies and resources to support high‑quality science instruction.
Assessment and Feedback
  • Use IB MYP and DP assessment criteria for formative and summative evaluations.
  • Supervise Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, and MYP Personal Projects related to Chemistry and Integrated Science.
  • Maintain clear communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Resource and Laboratory Management
  • Manage and maintain laboratory materials, chemical inventories, and equipment safely.
  • Ensure laboratory resources meet IB standards.
Professional Development and Engagement
  • Participate in IB professional development workshops and training.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary projects and inquiry‑based learning.
  • Stay current with advances in chemical science and science education.
  • Support student participation in chemistry and science‑related competitions or initiatives.
Student Support and Safety
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and confidence.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise one after‑school club or activity (e.g., Chemistry Club, Science Olympiad, or Eco Club).
  • Chaperone one school event per year.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Middle/High School Principal.
Qualifications
