Litigation Secretary / Litigation Clerk
Responsibilities
- Assist the litigation departments and other departments as required.
- Assist in legal research, court filings, drafting of cause papers, preparation for hearings and trials, and appearing in court.
- Assist in preparing documents for the firm’s departments and other matters.
- Preparing letters and legal documents, answering/screening telephone calls, and taking messages.
- Schedule appointments and organize meeting arrangements.
- Maintain an efficient filing system, administer a KIV system, monitor work schedule and meet deadlines.
- Prepare travel claims, bills, and monitor collections.
- Arrange and compile pre‑trial documents, appeal records, and bundle of documents/authorities to be filed in court.
- Liaise with clients, court clerk/registrar, and other law firms on court dates and filing/extraction of court documents.
- Maintain and monitor the court diary.
- Prepare status reports for clients and/or lawyers.
- Prepare litigation cause papers/court documents as instructed by the lawyer.
- Prepare files for court.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Graduate from LLB courses or Bar Vocational Course or CLP or equivalent.
- Committed and responsible individual with strong analytical and communication skills, good work ethics.
- Good team player, proactive.
- Competitive remuneration package offered.
- Own transport preferable.
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Commencement date: immediately.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of working experience in a law firm environment in relation to civil litigation practice and secretarial duties.
- Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
- Competent in MS Office and able to type correspondences and all forms of documentation with accuracy and speed.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, disciplined, owns transport, flexible working hours if required.
- Eager to learn, preferably single and without children.
- Proactive, self‑initiative.
- Meticulous and neat.
- Basic file management skills is a must.
- Basic knowledge in civil litigation is a must.
- Able to take instructions from the lawyers.
- Good attitude.
