About us

Research, Design and Development (RDD) is Dyson's engine room. It's where our engineers challenge convention, build, test, fail, refine, and then fail again – all to invent technology that solves problems others ignore. You will be part of a global team delivering groundbreaking projects that create trailblazing Dyson technologies for the world.

Based in our RDD Centre at Senai, our engineers play a key role in bringing proprietary Dyson technology to market. As part of a global project team, you'll work with specialists in Materials, Process, Chemical, Thermals, Fluid Dynamics, Structural Analysis, Software, Control, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. This team designs and develops new product features and technology with our strategic partners – exploring the limits of technology and optimizing solutions, all within a Dyson-owned Development Centre.

About the role

As a Technology Manager, you will lead Dyson’s battery cell and pack technology development, combining deep technical expertise with strong people leadership. You will manage a team of engineers, set technical directions, and ensure delivery of high-quality solutions that meet Dyson’s performance, safety, and reliability standards. This role requires balancing strategic planning, technical problem-solving, and team development.

Own the technical roadmap for battery cells, ensuring alignment with Dyson’s product strategy. Drive innovation and excellence across multiple projects while managing team performance and development.

Define and oversee technical strategies for battery cell selection, pack design, thermal management, and integration.

Lead investigations into complex battery issues (performance, degradation, safety) and ensure robust solutions.

Ensure compliance with international safety standards (UN 38.3, IEC 62133) and Dyson’s internal requirements.

Champion best practices in design, testing, and validation for battery technologies.

Manage and develop a team of engineers, providing mentorship, coaching, and career development.

Allocate resources effectively across projects and ensure timely delivery of technical milestones.

Communicate technical strategies and decisions to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Identify emerging battery technologies and assess their potential impact on Dyson products.

About you

Bachelor degree and above in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science, with strong emphasis on electrochemistry and battery systems.

10+ years in battery technology (cells and packs), including leadership roles.

Proven track record in managing technical teams and delivering complex projects.

Deep knowledge of Li-ion chemistry, cell characterization.

Knowledge of pack design, thermal management, BMS concepts, CAE (thermal FEA, electrochemical modelling), modelling (Matlab/Python), CAD, and failure analysis are advantageous.

Strong understanding of international safety and performance standards.

Excellent people management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to balance technical depth with strategic decision-making.

Dyson Malaysia monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and bonuses. Beyond that, you’ll enjoy a transport allowance and comprehensive medical care and insurance.
