Job summary

An aerospace engineering company in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia is seeking an experienced engineer responsible for enhancing textile manufacturing processes. Job description
Responsibilities
  1. Product Development & Process Improvement:
    • a. Develop & improve Textile manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, yield and product quality.
    • b. Conduct process simulation, feasibility studies & risk assessment.
    • c. Implement lean manufacturing methodologies to eliminate waste and reduce variability.
    • d. Recommend and implement changes to materials and processes based on results of experimental evaluations.
  2. Production Support & Troubleshooting:
    • a. Create and maintain clear manufacturing process sequence and technique documents for compliance, ease and efficiency of manufacturing.
    • b. Monitor production processes and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
    • c. Investigate and resolve process-related issue including root cause analysis and participate material review board (MRB).
    • d. Lead support and training of Safran Landing Systems manufacturing personnel and maintenance team for new process and equipment.
    • e. Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing team regarding respective textile equipment and its auxiliaries, including routine operation, emergency procedures and safety considerations.
    • f. Provide technical support and guidance to the team and Operations/Maintenance, including establishment of SOPs, WIs and Special Manufacturing Request updates.
  3. Quality and compliance:
    • a. Ensure processes meet industry standard and regulatory requirements (Aviation Regulation, EN9100, OSHA etc).
    • b. Lead and implement the processes changes accordingly to technical definition changes.
    • c. Lead and perform the process and equipment qualification and validation accordingly to Safran Landing Systems process and procedures including perform First Article Inspection (FAI).
    • d. Develop and maintain documentation (standard operating procedure (SOPs), work instruction, SMR, DVI, PFMEA etc.)
  4. Data analysis & reporting:
    • a. Collaborate with data engineer to collect and analyze production data to identify trends and improvements opportunities.
    • b. Prepare reports on process performance, KPIs and project outcomes.
    • c. Utilize statistical tools for process control and optimization.
  5. Project Management:
    • a. Lead and support process improvement projects from conception to implementation.
    • b. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (R&D, supply chain, quality) to ensure project success.
    • c. Manage budget, timelines and resources for engineering projects.
    • d. Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment and automation solutions.
    • e. Stay updated on industry trends and best practises in process engineering.
  6. General:
    • a. Comply with the Group’s Ethics and Business Code of Conducts, 5S and Safety policies and all applicable customer standards.
    • b. Adhere and actively participate in occupational Safety, Health and Environmental policies, Energy policies procedures and activities such as I-See I-Act, GPI, low carbon initiative etc.
    • c. Adhere and comply with Business Ethics, Anti-Corruption, Flight Safety Management System, and others relevant policies, procedures and activities.
    • d. Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent applicable experience required. Related technical field preferred. Masters degree would be a plus.
  • 2. Minimum 3 years working experience in related technical field, such as Wafers Manufacturing Industry, Composite, Carbon or its equivalent.
  • 3. Strong knowledge in material science, and chemical engineering.
  • 4. Experience and knowledge in Textile materials, machineries or equipments, like needle loom, cross lapper, carbon fibers would be a plus.
  • 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills of English language.
  • 6. Able to read technical material, technical drawing, PFDs and P&IDs, develop analysis and make recommendations.
  • 7. “Hands on” approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • 8. Good computer skills especially with Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, Experience with DCS, Data Mining, Statistical Analysis, Minitab, Power BI…etc
  • 9. Experience in Aerospace industry will be an advantage.
