Job description

Buyer + Sales = Trader. Do you have what it takes to dealing in stainless steel scrap for a big MNC?

Before you can trade one of the most expensive scrap metals, you need to be clever to find the sources. A source can be anyone using stainless steel in manufacturing and/or scrap dealers having collected a few tonnes. Because when we buy, we buy BIG.

Why clever? Sources are not listed in directories. You need to call around, then hit the road, travel up and down the country, speak to many and talk you way into those owning such precious scrap to trust you as a buyer. This takes many more than one visit as trust builds slowly. Energy, determination, tenacity but also stamina to see a deal through from initial agreement to the materials actually ending on our yard under strong competition.

No expertise needed in stainless steel, we will teach you that. You should have had plenty of customer contact, in sales, marketing or promotion. You are inventive, social, clever, a bit snoopy, you can talk. You won’t go away until you get what you want. You are a true “hunter”.

We call the job of finding, developing and maintaining a network of reliable suppliers of stainless steel scrap, quoting fast and competitively and keeping a watchful eye on every purchase.

TRADER (SCRAP METAL)

We, the German - Dutch ORYX STAINLESS GROUP, need you in KL. As one of the biggest globally, we operate many more yards in Europe. Different from other, local traders, you can become part of an international buying team. After you learnt trading locally first. If you already have international experience, jump start with us.

The challenge:

Find potential sources, suppliers and traders in stainless steel scrap, nothing else.

Go and visit them, make them interested in selling to you.

Visit them many more times, initially, until you cut the best possible deal with them.

Fight tooth and nail with the competition, there will be others offering too.

Close the deal and see it through until the material has reached our factory.

Who you are:

Self-motivated, honest, fast but precise, results oriented, hungry for the next profitable deal

Organised, used to pressure (speed and results), competing in a very dynamic environment (commodities, FX, world markets).

Good written and spoken English - You will work in an international team. Bahasa and ideally some Chinese and Indian languages – to connect locally.

Some years in buying, selling, trading or marketing – successfully! You love to negotiate and you can smell a good deal. You’re good with numbers.

Mobile, happy to be on the road, all over Malaysia. No 8 to 5 mentality. Income driven – good money makes you happy.
