Job description

Background: Operates within the oil and gas services industry, specifically focusing on surface technologies related to exploration, drilling, completion, and production of wells.

Working Days: 5 days working, 2 days off

Working Hours: 8am – 5pm or 9am – 6pm

Cut Off and Pay Out: Cut Off by end of month, Pay Out by 7th

Responsibilities

• No supervisory responsibility, but may be responsible for mentoring and training entry level employees.
• Interacts with suppliers and co-workers in a team-based environment in order to fulfill job requirements. May also have limited interaction with management, both with the procurement function and others. Expected to actively participate is cross‑functional team efforts and projects as the opportunity arises.
• Directly responsible for the procurement of purchased components, which may be valued in millions of dollars.
• Receives general instructions for routine projects and detailed instructions for more complex projects. Receives some guidance on process and timing. Uses evaluation skills and ingenuity to recommend solutions, which are reviewed by higher levels.
• Spends most of time in an office environment. May occasionally spend time on the shop floor or at supplier facilities and may be exposed to high noise levels, high temperatures, and close proximity to operation of heavy machinery and equipment.
• Frequent sitting and operating a computer. Fast paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant change.

Requirements

• Degree in relevant field.
• Two to five years of procurement experience with proven performance and product knowledge of assigned components. Technical, metallurgical, engineering or other related background is preferred.
• Must have a basic understanding of essential manufacturing processes.
• Must have PC skills, including spreadsheet and word processing, and SAP or similar mainframe experience.
• Ability to recognize contractual requirements and variances from standards and procedures to ensure compliance. Recognize when to consult other departments.
• Clear understanding and ability to execute fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in procurement or materials management.
