Responsibilities
  • Scout and assess new opportunities for utility-scale solar and BESS projects in the region.
  • Drive land acquisition and engage with stakeholders including landowners and governmental bodies.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies covering technical, regulatory, and grid aspects.
  • Oversee the full development cycle up to investment-grade status.
  • Develop investor materials such as project proposals, concept notes, and presentations.
  • Create and manage detailed financial models to evaluate project returns.
  • Negotiate terms with off-takers, partners, and suppliers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for investors, banks, DFIs, and sponsors.
  • Lead project financing efforts, including structuring of equity and debt.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies (e.g., SEDA, EC, TNB) to obtain permits and stay aligned with policy changes.
  • Maintain an up-to-date development pipeline and track progress using dashboards.
  • Deliver clear, data-informed insights to support executive decision-making.
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory updates to advise internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years experience in the renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy investment sectors.
  • Minimum 3 years working specifically on utility-scale solar (LSS) or BESS project development.
  • Demonstrated success in taking renewable projects from inception through financial close.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and structuring investment cases.
  • In-depth understanding of Malaysia’s solar industry and emerging markets in SEA.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Well-versed in regional regulatory mechanisms such as LSS, NEDA, FiT, and corporate PPAs.
  • Established network with key industry players including IPPs, investors, financiers, and authorities.
