Overview
ACWA Power Malaysia is seeking a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in business development within the Renewable Energy (RE) and LNG trading sectors, coupled with strong commercial and project execution expertise. The Manager will be responsible for driving strategic growth, developing partnerships, and executing commercial agreements that support ACWA Power’s ambitious portfolio expansion in Malaysia and the ASEAN region.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Strategy
- Identify, evaluate, and secure renewable energy (solar, wind, floating PV, hydrogen) and LNG-related business opportunities in Malaysia and ASEAN.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders, regulators, utilities (e.g., TNB, PETRONAS/Gentari), and commercial partners.
- Lead market intelligence gathering and competitive analysis for RE and LNG trading opportunities.
- Structure and negotiate MoUs, Joint Development Agreements (JDAs), and commercial contracts.
- Commercial & LNG Trading
- Originate and structure LNG supply and trading arrangements for ACWA Power’s CCGT portfolio in Malaysia.
- Support fuel procurement strategies, including long-term supply agreements, price indexation, and risk-hedging mechanisms.
- Assess financial viability and pricing of LNG supply contracts in coordination with project finance teams.
- Project Development & Execution
- Oversee feasibility studies, project structuring, and risk assessments for RE and LNG projects.
- Coordinate with technical, financial, and legal teams to ensure bankability and timely project execution.
- Provide leadership during project bidding, negotiation, and closing phases.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent ACWA Power Malaysia in high-level engagements with ministries, regulators, and state authorities.
- Develop and manage relationships with local and international partners to support project development and execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience in business development for RE projects (solar, wind, hydrogen, hybrid), combined with expertise in LNG trading, procurement, and supply structuring.
- Demonstrated track record of leading large-scale commercial negotiations, joint ventures, or strategic partnerships.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysia’s energy and LNG market structure, regulatory framework, and power sector policies.
- Experience in project management and execution of project companies, in Malaysia or internationally.
- Excellent contract structuring, and risk management skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
