Job description

MR DIY is embarking on an exciting new venture to pioneer into AI & Robotics retail concept, under a strategic initiative known as Mr. Robot. As part of this bold expansion into the AI and robotics space, we are seeking a driven and capable Business Development Manager to help lead this initiative from the ground up.

This role will work closely with the founding team and report into the CEO overseeing the Mr. Robot venture. You will be responsible for driving business growth, managing product and partner pipelines, coordinating store launch activities, and helping shape Malaysia’s future in consumer robotics and smart technologies.

Key Responsibilities

🚀 Strategic Growth & Business Planning

• Support the execution of the Mr. Robot business plan, aligning closely with MR.DIY’s innovation roadmap.
• Identify and propose new business models around robotics retail, AI consumer products, and experiential tech.

🤝 Partnership Development

• Build and manage relationships with global robotics companies, AI product suppliers, and emerging tech startups.
• Handle communications, negotiations, and onboarding processes for new partners and brands.

🧠 Market & Product Intelligence

• Conduct ongoing market research into AI gadgets, robotics trends, and consumer needs.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams for sourcing, pricing, and positioning of AI-related products.

🛍️ Retail Rollout & Activation

• Assist in planning and executing the launch of the first Mr. Robot experience store.
• Collaborate with malls and property partners to secure locations and structure go-to-market strategies.

📊 Sales & Commercialization Support

• Explore robot rental opportunities for events, brand activations, and B2B marketing.
• Support the development of pricing, revenue models, and partner sales channels.

Job Requirements3>

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Technology, or related field.
• Has 3 to 6 years of experience in business development, retail innovation, or tech commercialization.
• Exposure to consumer electronics, retail, or robotics/AI is an advantage.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution skills and self-drive.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in English (Mandarin a plus for supplier engagement).
