Job summary

A leading energy provider in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a highly experienced professional to provide technical leadership in base stocks manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, with over 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in base stocks production. Responsibilities include leading technical efforts, evaluating technologies, and optimizing manufacturing processes. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and interpersonal skills while being open to international travel as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in base stocks manufacturing for downstream oil refining industry.
• Proficiency in unit operation, troubleshooting and optimization is required.

What you will do

If successful, your key deliverables will include:

• Provide active technical leadership within base stocks supporting ExxonMobil manufacturing opportunities
• Improve base stocks technical capabilities by mentoring, reviewing technical work, developing and delivering technical training
• Evaluate, develop, and deploy base stocks technologies to deliver value to the business
• Provide process engineering technical leadership to support ExxonMobil manufacturing sites, optimization and troubleshooting during abnormal operation.
• Function as process technology technical lead for capital project development from screening studies to unit startup
• Support installation, commissioning, and startup of grassroot or revamped facilities.
• Lead or provide guidance on process modelling development, sustainment and development
• Collaborate with 3rd parties to develop, design, manufacture, test and deploy new technologies

About you

Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of work experience in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical or Refining Industry
• Minimum 7 years of experience in base stocks manufacturing for the downstream oil refining industry, preferably GroupII base stocks. This would include distillation, catalytic processes including dewaxing, and deasphalting technology experience.
• Proficiency in the following areas of base stocks manufacturing
• Unit operation, troubleshooting and optimization
• Base stocks properties and characteristics
• Project development from early screening studies, through lead case selection, detailed engineering, and unit startup and commissioning
• New technology evaluation, development, and deployment
• Turnaround support, including reactor inspection and startup
• Able to demonstrate the following:
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, especially in multi‑cultural global team
• Strategic thinking and able to develop creative fit for purpose solutions to resolve operational problems
• Ability to influence and promote change to achieve desired results with no or minimal direct authority
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed for business reasons. Expect about 20% of time required for travel
