About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Malaysia. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure server‑side components that power our fintech platform. Working within an Agile Scrum team, you will play a key role in the full product development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring high performance and reliability.

This is a hands‑on role for someone passionate about clean code, system architecture, and solving complex technical challenges in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Development & Delivery: Design, build, and test scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java Spring Boot. Ensure high code quality, performance, and security standards.
• Agile Team Member: Actively participate in all Scrum ceremonies (planning, grooming, retrospectives) and commit to delivering sprint tasks on time.
• System Ownership: Manage the development, maintenance, and deployment of backend applications, aiming for zero‑defect releases.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Frontend Engineers, Product Managers, QA, and SRE teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and resolve cross‑functional issues.
• Quality Assurance: Write unit and integration tests to maintain high code coverage. Conduct peer code reviews and uphold development best practices.
• Continuous Improvement: Investigate and propose new technologies, tools, and process improvements to enhance team productivity and system robustness.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and share knowledge with fellow team members to foster a collaborative learning environment.

What We’re Looking For

Education

Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

3‑5 years of professional experience as a Java / Backend Developer. Experience working with Spring Boot in a professional environment.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot framework.
• Solid experience in building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Hands‑on experience with both SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins), and Agile methodologies.
• Experience in software analysis, debugging, and performance optimization.
