A financial services company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a proactive and analytical Assistant Manager for Operations Improvement. This role plays a critical part in enhancing operational efficiency and managing risk through continuous improvement and automation. The successful candidate will collaborate with multiple departments to drive sustainable operational excellence. Key responsibilities include leading process enhancements, conducting quality assurance checks, and supporting management in strategic initiatives. Ideal candidates possess strong analytical skills and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
We are looking for a proactive and analytical Assistant Manager, Operations Improvement to support end-to-end process enhancement initiatives within our Processing Department. This role plays a critical part in strengthening operational efficiency, compliance, risk management, and audit readiness through continuous improvement, automation, and system enhancements. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Operations, IT, Product, Compliance, Risk, and external partners to drive sustainable operational excellence.
Lead and support end-to-end operations improvement initiatives, including process review, re-engineering, and standardisation.
Perform gap analysis on departmental processes to identify deviations from company policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct quality assurance (QA) checks to ensure operational accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Identify operational risks, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and monitor remediation progress to closure.
Support continuous process improvement, control enhancement, and audit readiness for internal and external audits.
Identify operational inefficiencies and propose sustainable improvement solutions to enhance productivity and reduce risk.
Coordinate closely with Operations, IT, Product, Compliance, Risk, and external partners to ensure smooth implementation of system enhancements and process changes.
Drive automation and system enhancement initiatives to minimise manual processing and turnaround time.
Monitor and analyse operational performance metrics; prepare management and governance reports.
Support user acceptance testing (UAT), system rollout, and post-implementation reviews.
Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of procedures, SOPs, workflows, and control measures.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members where applicable.
Support management in ad-hoc projects and strategic initiatives related to operations excellence.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in operations improvement, process management, QA, audit, or risk/control functions within the financial services industry.
Strong knowledge of operational processes, SOPs, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Experience in process re-engineering, automation, or system enhancement projects is highly desirable.
Exposure to UAT, system implementation, and post-go-live support will be an added advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple initiatives, and meet tight deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
