Job Overview

The Associate Planner plays a pivotal role in supporting project planning and scheduling activities within McDermott’s Project Controls team. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a strong analytical mindset and a keen interest in project planning. The role involves developing and maintaining project schedules, analyzing data, and collaborating with senior planners to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Project Management/Engineering/Construction/Business Management or equivalent combinations of technical training or experience required
  • 1-5 years of project planning experience with offshore or onshore oil and gas-related projects
  • Must have solid commands of Primavera P6
  • Must be able to produce and maintain logically linked activity schedules, according to precedence flow in EPCIC planning, using best practices
  • Must be able to produce and assess progress curves, histograms, variance reports, and critical paths
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and display attentiveness to detail
  • Ability to manage, update, and appropriately store data
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications
Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, logically tie, resource load, level, and update activities in alignment with earned value management systems under the guidance of senior planners
  • Understand advanced work package principles and management
  • Import and export data from Project Management Software for the production of Key Performance Indicators
  • Understand how to use the information available to satisfy data requests
  • Analyze and provide additional insight or correlations within data sets
  • Analyze projects based on historical data and current trends
