We are seeking someone with deep and broad finance expertise with a specialisation in O2C, strong leadership and communication skills, a strategic thinker who has extensive experience with technology and global operations.

The successful candidate will report to the Global Process Lead and manage a team of professional process experts working collaboratively with the operational delivery and continuous improvement team through a network of captive and outsourced shared service centres.

The priorities include identifying technology and process opportunities and then taking them from concept to reality including developing a business case, project planning, delivery, change management and successfully ensuring both adoption and delivery of expected benefits in a complex global organisation.

In addition to this the successful candidate will be required to support the existing process and technology estate with an emphasis on increasing automation, process standardisation, adoption of best practice whilst supporting business growth whether driven organically or through acquisition.

AstraZeneca is in the process of upgrading from multiple instances of SAP ECC to a single instance of S/4HANA and this will also feature prominently as one of the priorities so experience of implementation and operating S/4HANA is beneficial.

Another key priority within the role is to continue standardising our existing technology and processes across the globe whilst driving our automation agenda in a business that continues to grow.

To support this ambitious agenda, we have an opportunity for an Associate Director to join the team and help influence the overall O2C strategy, delivery and process adoption. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of what best‑in‑class processes and technology looks like and be able to speak confidently with users, system architects and business stakeholders alike.

We are seeking an experienced leader with a track record of successfully identifying and delivering new technology and change.

The O2C team is providing global support to the AstraZeneca Group. This role provides an excellent opportunity to directly contribute to the group Finance function of a leading global company.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Technology: Identify new and support existing technology to successfully embed into daily operations and ensure benefit realization Is delivered. Identify potential opportunities to improve further as part of “business as usual”
  • Leadership: Lead a diverse global team consisting of both direct and indirect reports. Coach and support their personal and professional development build partnerships, manage cross‑functional workstreams, and drive change across a global, complex matrix environment
  • Strategy: Influence strategic direction of the function and help to develop short, medium and long term plans aligned to AstraZeneca’s overall strategy
  • Stakeholder management: Influence both internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver and embed change
Essential skills and experience
  • Deep and broad experience of order to cash and banking gained in a global corporate environment
  • Experience in leading and successfully delivering multiple change initiatives simultaneously
  • Track record of implementing technology and leveraging it to drive performance
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high performing teams across geographical and organisational boundaries
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills and an adept at influencing
  • Expert in working with SAP ECC and S/4HANA and leveraging technology to drive automation and digital transformation
Desirable skills and experience
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Prior working experience of HighRadius (collections, cash application and deductions), Esker (order management), Celonis (process mining) and PowerBI products
  • Formal continuous improvement / Lean / Six Sigma qualification
  • Experience of managing and collaborating with outsourced providers, vendors and shared services
