Job summary

A technology company in Kedah is seeking a technician specialized in testing and repairing electronic equipment. The ideal candidate will analyze defective units, support production lines, and maintain TEST, SPI, and AOI equipment. With a diploma in Electronics and at least 2 years of relevant experience, the candidate should be familiar with ICT and able to troubleshoot effectively. Job description

1. Analyse and repair defective units from testing processes, record and compile troubleshooting data.

2. Support production line with test fixture setup, debugging, and configuration.

3. Maintain and service TEST, SPI, and AOI equipment and fixtures to ensure proper performance.

4. Assist in troubleshooting and repairing TEST, SPI and AOI equipment to ensure stable and efficient operations.

Responsibilities and Authorities
A. TEST (ICT / FT) Responsibilities

Analyses and repair failures detected during ICT/FT processes; ensure accurate defect classification and timely recording of data.

Provide technical support for production testing activities, including test fixture setup, debug, calibration, and test parameter adjustments.

Maintain test equipment, fixtures, and test stations; perform routine preventive maintenance.

Coordinate with Test Engineers when anomalies or equipment failures occur and request software/hardware support when required.

Improve test yield by reporting recurring issues and assisting engineers in root cause analysis.

Perform daily setup, calibration, and verification for SPI machines according to SOP.

Monitor SPI inspection results, analyse solder paste defects (e.g., insufficient, excess, bridging), and elevate abnormalities to Process Engineer.

Troubleshoot minor SPI machine issues (sensor error, camera alignment, lighting issues, etc.) and perform basic repairs.

Maintain SPI equipment cleanliness, perform routine preventive maintenance, and ensure machine stability.

Record SPI defect trends and support continuous improvement activities for printing quality.

C. AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) Responsibilities

Conduct daily AOI setup, parameter loading, and program verification according to model changeover requirements.

Monitor AOI inspection results for components, polarity, soldering defects, and report any abnormality to Engineer.

Troubleshoot AOI issues such as camera faults, lighting calibration, misdetection, and false calls.

Maintain AOI machines, ensuring proper preventive maintenance and cleanliness of lenses and lighting modules.

Assist Engineer in AOI program optimization to reduce false calls and improve accuracy.

General Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily maintenance of TEST, SPI, and AOI equipment; develop or update maintenance checklists as required.
  • Assist Engineer in safety protection management for high-voltage / high-temperature testing equipment.
  • Manage equipment usage, fixture handling, and perform lockout/tagout procedure during repair.
  • Willing to work overtime or shifts as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
  • Follow all management and safety training provided by the company.
Education

• Diploma or above in Electronics / Electrical / Mechatronics or related field.

Work Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in PCB troubleshooting and repair.

• At least 1 year experience in ICT, FT, SPI, or AOI operation/maintenance preferred.

Skills

• Familiar with ICT/FT testing processes.

• Knowledge of SPI/AOI operation, troubleshooting, and inspection criteria.

• Able to use measuring instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply).

• Basic PC troubleshooting knowledge (backup, network checking).
