Job description

We are seeking for Assistant Resident Engineer for a project based in Penang with a minimum 10 years of experience. The Assistant Resident Engineer is responsible for assisting the Resident Engineer in supervising and managing all aspects of railway construction works to ensure compliance with design specifications, project quality plans, safety standards, project timelines and within budget.

What you’ll be doing

• Site Monitoring & Verification: Monitor daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Project Progress Monitoring: Track project milestones, prepare daily/weekly reports, verify work done at site and highlight potential delays or risks.
• Coordination: Liaise with contractors, consultants, authorities and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain smooth workflow.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all works comply with Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) regulations and project safety plans.
• Technical Support & Issue Resolution: Assist in reviewing shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions. Identify and report site problems promptly, recommending corrective actions.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and verify workmanship, materials, and compliance with railway standards.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, and correspondences.
