Job description

To manage all costs related to the reinstatement of public roads, pavements, and verges following utility construction (trenching/HDD), ensuring accuracy, contractual compliance, and cost control.

Job Responsibilities

Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates for all reinstatement activities, factoring in different road classifications (e.g., major highways, local roads, footpaths) and materials (e.g., asphalt, concrete, paving stones).

Contract Management: Review and prepare tender documentation, negotiate with sub-contractors/local councils on reinstatement rates, and administer contracts to ensure scope is delivered within budget.

Valuation & Claims: Conduct site visits to verify the extent and quality of reinstatement work completed, prepare interim and final valuations, and process payments/claims accurately against the agreed-upon Bill of Quantities (BoQ).

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all reinstatement works and cost calculations adhere to the specifications and standards set by the relevant municipal or state public works department (e.g., JKR specifications).

Cost Control & Reporting: Track and report on variances between actual costs and budgeted amounts, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with proven expertise specifically in civil works, infrastructure, or utility reinstatement projects. Must be familiar with common road reinstatement methodologies and specifications.
