Job summary

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field from a recognized university.
- Doctorate (PhD) and Master’s in Library and Information Science from a recognized university.
- Prior experience in teaching and research in the higher education sector is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
- Design and update comprehensive LIS courses.
- Deliver engaging lectures and tutorials across LIS subjects.
- Create and evaluate examinations and assignments.
- Conduct and publish impactful research in LIS.
- Collaborate with industry experts for curriculum relevance.
- Offer academic advice and mentorship to students.
Job Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Design and update comprehensive LIS courses that reflect the latest industry trends and academic standards.
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions across a variety of LIS subjects, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and software.
- Student Assessment: Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.
- Research Contribution: Conduct and publish impactful research in the LIS field and supervise student research projects and theses.
- Professional Development: Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.
- Community and Industry Engagement: Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.
- Mentorship: Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelorâs Degree in any field from a recognized university.
- Doctorate (PhD) and Masterâs in Library and Information Science from a recognized university.

Minimum Competencies
- A blend of academic qualifications, teaching abilities, research skills, and personal attributes.
- Prior experience in teaching and research in the higher education sector is an added advantage.
Other Requirements
- A strong foundation and knowledge in computing.
- Proficiency or specialization in any of the following areas:
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- A strong track record of published research and participation in the academic community.
Language Qualifications
- For Malaysian citizens: Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidates without these qualifications will be required to take the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
