Job summary

A leading procurement firm is seeking an experienced Assistant Procurement Manager to join its dynamic team in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. In this full-time role, you will manage procurement activities with both local and overseas suppliers, ensuring optimal quality and pricing. Ideal candidates will have a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or a related field along with five years of experience in procurement. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills are essential, as well as proficiency in ERP systems. The position requires travel between office locations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Procurement or Purchasing, preferably in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of customs clearance and import/export processes.
  • Willing to travel between Nilai and Cheras (Corporate Office) as required.

Assistant Procurement Manager – Local & Overseas Suppliers

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Procurement Manager to join our dynamic Procurement Team at BERJAYA CKE GROUP. This full-time position is based at our manufacturing facility in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and supports procurement activities involving both local and overseas suppliers, covering manufacturing, transportation, and logistics operations.

This role is ideal for a procurement professional ready to take on greater responsibility, supplier ownership, and strategic exposure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management: Source, evaluate, and negotiate with local and overseas suppliers to achieve optimal quality, pricing, and delivery terms.

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships to support operational continuity.

  • End-to-End Procurement Management: Manage the full procurement cycle from purchase order issuance through delivery and invoice settlement.

  • Ensure purchasing records, pricing, and supplier data are accurate and up to date.

  • Cost & Budget Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or reliability.

  • Support procurement strategies that enhance operational efficiency and cost control.

  • Supplier Development & Negotiation: Qualify and develop new suppliers as alternative sourcing options.

  • Monitor supplier performance and lead negotiations to establish sustainable partnerships.

  • Contracts & Compliance: Assist in drafting and managing supplier contracts, including pricing and delivery terms.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO standards, and import/export regulations.

  • Leadership & Collaboration: Report to the Procurement Manager and support cross-functional teams on procurement initiatives.

  • Contribute to business-critical projects and ad-hoc assignments as required.

Job Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Procurement or Purchasing, preferably in a Manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of customs clearance and import/export processes.

  • Experience using ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience coordinating with international suppliers is an advantage.

  • Proactive, well-organised, detail-oriented, and collaborative with a leadership mindset.

  • Willing to travel between Nilai and Cheras (Corporate Office) as required.
