We are seeking a seasoned Government Relations Manager to build and maintain strategic relationships with federal, state, and local government authorities in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will leverage their professional communication skills and local government network to facilitate smooth interactions between the company and Malaysian government entities (including Johor state government and local councils in Johor Bahru), support project-related processes in these two regions, and contribute to the company’s sustainable development. This role has no industry restrictions, welcoming professionals with diverse sector experiences and in-depth understanding of the Malaysian policy environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement region-specific government relations strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives, proactively engaging with relevant federal departments in Kuala Lumpur, Johor state government, and local councils (e.g., Johor Bahru City Council, Kulai Municipal Council) in Johor Bahru.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance long‑term, trusting relationships with key government stakeholders in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, serving as the primary liaison for the company’s government‑related communications in these regions.
  • Provide professional public relations and communication support, representing the company in government‑related meetings, forums, and events with excellent verbal and presentation skills.
  • Assist in the whole process of project submissions to government authorities in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, including document preparation compliant with local regulatory requirements, process coordination, and follow‑up on approval progress.
  • Monitor and analyze Malaysian federal policies, Johor state regulations, and local industry trends in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, providing timely insights and recommendations to the management team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the company’s operations and projects comply with relevant government requirements.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Public Administration, Law, Communications, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in government relations, with a proven track record in building and managing government relationships.
  • Excellent public relations and communication skills, with strong ability in verbal expression, negotiation, and presentation.
  • Possess established government relationship networks in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, and be familiar with Malaysian government work processes, communication protocols, especially Johor state-specific administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience in project submissions, planning, and engineering are highly preferred.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, proactive work attitude, and ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Good teamwork spirit and cross‑departmental collaboration capabilities.
