The Assistant Manager - Finance supports the Director – Business Strategy in overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls. This role is crucial in driving financial efficiency, cost control, and accurate reporting in a manufacturing environment.
1. Financial Operations Support
- Assists in managing daily financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, stock-related matters, stock reconciliation reports, and general ledger maintenance. Ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, and effective coordination between finance and other departments.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the annual budget preparation and periodic forecasting exercises.
- Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to align financial plans with production output and cost structure.
- Identify trends and provide actionable insights for cost savings.
3. Costing & Inventory Management
- Oversee standard costing, BOM (Bill of Materials) reviews, and variance analysis.
- Monitor raw material and finished goods inventory valuation.
- Collaborate with production and procurement teams to ensure cost accuracy and stock control.
4. Taxation & Compliance
- Ensure timely submission of SST, corporate tax, and other statutory reports.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies (e.g., LHDN, SSM, MITI).
- Support in managing transfer pricing documentation if required.
5. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Support implementation and monitoring of internal controls within finance and related departments.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and system improvements (e.g., ERP enhancements).
- Participate in stock counts and audits.
6. Team Support & Supervision
- Guide and supervise junior finance staff in daily operations.
- Provide training and coaching on accounting procedures, compliance, and system usage.
7. Other duties
- Any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Education
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is added advantages.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of working experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in manufacturing environment.
Skills required
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), SST, and local tax laws.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and good communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and decision making are essential.
