A leading precision firm based in Johor Bahru is seeking an Accounting Operations professional to oversee month-end closings and financial reporting. Responsibilities include leading the financial close process, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards, and mentoring junior staff. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Accounting and over 5 years of experience. This role offers a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to enhance accounting processes.
Lead the timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
Review journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and allocations.
Review detailed account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts (e.g., bank accounts, fixed assets, accruals, intercompany) and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Oversee account payable and/or accounts receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Manage the inventory and costing, ensuring accurate valuations of inventory.
Perform monthly tax computations for corporate taxation and deferred tax.
Prepare monthly financial statement (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and accompanying management reports.
Analyze financial results, investigate variances against budget and forecast, and provide meaningful commentary to management.
Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for Finance Department.
Ensure compliance with company policies and Malaysia Financial Reporting Standard (MFRS)/International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS).
Serve as a primary point of contact for the quarter external audit review and annual external audit, preparing requested schedules and providing clear explanations.
Assist with tax compliance by preparing schedules for income, sales, and use tax returns.
Supervise, mentor, and train junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Review the work of staff accountants for accuracy and completeness.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology (Epicor Kinetic ERP system optimization).
Lead or participate in special projects as assigned, such as system implementations or ad-hoc financial analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent or an MIA member is preferred.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Proven experience with the full month-end financial statement preparation.
Strong technical accounting skills and a thorough understanding of MRFS/IFRS.
Experience in manufacturing is a plus.
Working hours Monday - Friday (8.30 am - 5.45pm)
