Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in a leadership position within finance and accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting and tax matters in Malaysia.
  • Prior experience in coworking or real estate is a plus.

Role Overview

We are looking for an ambitious and driven Assistant Finance Manager whose values align with our TEAM; standing for Together, Extra-mile, Accountable and Mindful. The Assistant Finance Manager works closely with the senior Finance team and Operations team to oversee administrative and financial processes, including invoicing, budget drafting, and other core functions.The focus of the team is to maintain the financial health of the business, and it's the Assustant Finance Manager’s role to create financial reports, manage the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger teams, liaise with external auditors and tax authorities, and spearhead the implementation of ad hoc projects driven by internal changes (e.g. strategic or growth oriented) or external changes (e.g. government regulations).

This role is a critical role for The Flexi Group as it is responsible for the largest geographic market within the Group - Malaysia. It involves overseeing several teams and dozens of locations, each with its own entity, financial statements, and reporting requirements. Given the visibility and importance of the role, it also positions the candidate for growth and promotion opportunities within the Group.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage and review monthly and yearly account closing, make sure all figures tally with Balance Sheet Notes schedule, IFRS Schedule & Interco Matrix.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of account receivables and payables processes, including debt collection and invoice issuance.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial analysis during monthly meetings.
  • Prepare and present monthly cash flow projections by working closely with division heads to ensure up-to-date forecasts.
  • Prepare and support the development of the annual budgets and periodical forecasts
  • Liaise with external auditors for annual audits and with tax agents for yearly tax computation and submission.
  • Ensure full compliance with local statutory and tax regulations, maintaining accurate documentation and schedules to support tax filings and audits, including but not limited to VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and payroll-related taxes.
  • Coordinate with the company secretary, Commissioner for Oaths, and bankers for statutory and administrative requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships and provide financial support to cross-functional teams, including operations and country teams.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and strengthening of internal controls within the finance function.
  • Support operations by providing periodical management accounting reports, stakeholders’ (including landlords’) reports and variance analysis
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and projects as required by the Management or Regional Finance.
  • Three to five years experience in a leadership position, ideally within finance and accounting.
  • Personable with strong verbal and written communication
  • Exceptionally organised with the ability to multitask
  • Thrives under pressure and solution-oriented
  • University Degree is an advantage
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Google Sheets; Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting, experience dealing with tax matters and external audits in Malaysia
  • Prior experience in coworking, real estate, or startup business would be an advantage
