Qualifications

Job description
Job Purpose

The Assistant Engineer is to support the RTS Operations Pte. Ltd.’s operations in the planning, execution, and oversight of preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance across rail systems and subsystems. This position plays a vital role in ensuring train services remain safe, reliable, and fully compliant with established SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements across stations, depots, substations, and operational facilities.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide hands‑on support to engineers in executing preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance of rail systems and interfacing subsystems.
  • Provide support for routine daily maintenance operations at stations, depots, substations, and along the revenue line to ensure consistent system performance in terms of system availability and reliability.
  • Support fault investigation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts aimed at maintaining uninterrupted service.
  • Maintain strict compliance with safety rules, SOPs, and statutory standards during maintenance operations.
  • Support system testing, commissioning, and system improvement works as part of professional skill development.
  • Provide support in planning, reporting, inventory control, contractor supervision, and project coordination.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to uphold safety and reliability in rail services.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Civil, or related Engineering disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in engineering, maintenance, operations, or technical environments.
  • Exposure to railway, transportation systems, or safety‑critical environments is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of maintenance management, asset reliability, safety, and compliance.
  • Able to read technical drawings, follow SOPs, and work in structured operational environments.
  • Willing to work on site, support shift operations when required, and learn across multiple rail systems.
