Job summary

A reputable international university in Selangor is searching for an Assistant Engineer (Civil) to manage engineering projects and oversee their implementation. The ideal candidate possesses a Diploma in Civil Engineering, with at least five years of relevant experience and skills in Microsoft software and AutoCad. Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential. This role requires a proactive individual capable of working under pressure and coordinating effectively with contractors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects including conducting site visits.
  • Prepare detailed scope of work and cost estimates.
  • Conduct briefings with contractors and evaluate submissions.
  • Obtain Safety Permit to Work from relevant authorities.
  • Supervise project implementation and conduct regular site inspections.
  • Handle project meetings and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Liaise with end-users and contractors for effective coordination.
  • Facilitate approval of material samples from contractors.
  • Conduct valuations for payment recommendations.
  • Monitor rectification works by contractors.

Diploma in Civil Engineering from any recognised institution by the Government from a local higher education institution or a recognised equivalent qualification.

Possess at least five (5) years' working experience in the related field.

LANGUAGE QUALIFICATION

All candidates must have obtained Credit (at least C) in Bahasa Malaysia and English (including oral examination) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.

Note: Shortlisted applicants who are currently employees of the Malaysia Government or Statutory Bodies in Malaysia will be required to submit the hard copy of applications through the respective Heads of Department together with the confidential report and up to date service record.

  • Manage the assigned projects, including conducting site visits to identify the detailed scope of works based on the end-user's requirements.
  • Prepare details scope of work in a form of Bills of Quantities and cost estimate for the assigned projects.
  • Conduct quotation briefing and site visit to contractors, evaluation quotation submission from contractors and preparation of proposal paper for recommendation of awards.
  • Obtain Safety Permit to Work from OSHBE for the projects, including liaison with the contractor on the necessary documentation.
  • Manage the assigned projects including conducting regular site inspections to supervise and monitor the project implementation in accordance with the approved work programme, time schedule, design, materials and specifications.
  • Manage project meetings and prepare the necessary minutes of meeting for approval.
  • Liaise with end-users and contractors to ensure effective coordination and communication.
  • Facilitate the submission of material samples from the contractor for the approval of the Superintending Officer (S.O.)
  • Conduct valuation for verification and recommendation of payment due to contractors for assigned projects.
  • Report project status updates on regular basis.

Monitor defects rectification work by contractors within the stipulated time period.
