Qualifications

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur / within the Engineering Department in Kuala Lumpur, the Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible to keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day‑to‑day maintenance of the hotel. The Assistant Chief Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • To make sure the hotel is ready for any statutory and mandatory audits/ inspections like but not limited to fire department, MOTAC, FLHSS etc.
  • To attend statutory fire training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning fire, life safety.
  • To delegate, create, prepare and implement the QC/QA plan and any associated and relevant directives and instructions needed to support the plan. The main duties will be to develop and manage the quality control and quality assurance procedures and ensure high quality results.
  • To undertake responsibility for supervising, training, and instructing colleagues in terms of Food Safety & Hygiene and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • In conjunction with the Training Manager, identify training needs of the department and ensure training plans are created and delivered.
  • To plan, direct, control, coordinate and participate in all areas and activities of the department.
  • To keep the cost at a minimum and will ensure that the hotel standards of service and cleanliness of the entire hotel is maintained.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years working experience as Duty Engineer, in hotel experience would be an advantage.
  • Possess Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Building Maintenance.
  • Able to analyze any malfunction of all mechanical equipment used in the Hotel.
  • Ability to write routine reports, keep logs and correspondence.
